Fluro Friday - Mental Health Week Event

Southern Melbourne PCP is excited to invite community members to attend our first Fluro Fridaycommunity mental health promotion event. The core idea originated from the ‘One Wave is all it takes’ campaign based in NSW. This campaign aims to make the invisible - visible by asking people to wear fluro colours and talk about mental health.

With the support of Mordialloc Life Saving Club, local Lions and Rotary clubs, Men's sheds and a wide range of health agencies the event will offer something for everyone.

SMPCP have been addressing mental health within the catchment for 10 years through community based awareness activites. The original Celebrate Mental Health Walk and Festival evloved into Fluro Friday in 2015.

Held during Mental Health Week each year, Fluro Friday aims to raise awareness of mental health by making the invisible - visible. Originating in Sydney through One Wave, the concept encourages people to dress in bright fluro colours to draw attention to the invisible issue of mental health. Physical activity, is combined with community connectedness and a supportive environment to promote awareness and encourage discussion and acceptance.
